Introduction to the University

Xidian University (XDU), founded in 1931 in Xi'an, is a national key university under the Ministry of Education and a designated "Double First-Class" institution. With north and south campuses, XDU is recognized as a pioneer in China's electronic information field. It was the first in China to establish core disciplines such as radar and cybersecurity. The university's leading disciplines, Information and Communication Engineering and Computer Science and Technology, rank among the top domestically. XDU offers 35 national-level first-class undergraduate programs spanning cutting-edge areas like artificial intelligence and microelectronics.Focused on its "SPIRE" talent development system, XDU cultivates practical and innovative professionals with a global outlook. It has over 40,000 full-time students, including more than 800 international students. Graduates show strong employment competitiveness, with over 95% of undergraduates and over 98% of postgraduates securing jobs, many at leading global tech firms or in key national sectors. The university's research strengths are demonstrated by contributions to major national projects like BeiDou and Chang'e, supported by multiple national research platforms and joint labs with partners like Huawei. XDU actively collaborates with 194 universities across 46 countries, offers Sino-foreign programs such as a Chinese-French Bachelor's-Master's track, and as a pioneer in international education, has trained nearly 5,000 international students.
